TSBT47: Short Work Week
Holidays are fun
Short weeks are my favourite weeks, especially the ones that start on Tuesday. The only reason we are indifferent to Mondays is that it's a transition day from the weekend to the workweek, and that in itself is a heavy responsibility. Tuesday, on the other hand, gets to shine the most and get good labels like Taco Tuesday, whereas Monday is stuck with Monday blues.
Last week on LinkedIn, I shared how I like to take the plunge and upgrade to the latest version of dependencies for a project I am maintaining. Partly because I know for a fact that major releases always come with breaking changes, might as well break it in the correct version and fix it. Please take a read and share what special things you do when it comes to dependency maintenance, as well as any interesting open-source projects you're working on.

Python 3.14.0rc2 and 3.13.7 have been expedited. The note includes major features such as free-threaded Python, T-strings, and multiple interpreters in the stdlib, among other changes in the Python 3.14 series compared to the 3.13 series.
Python performance myths and fairy tales challenge the belief that Python is slow because it's an interpreted language. However, the article emphasizes that, due to Python’s dynamic nature, it's difficult for compilers to optimise for it. Furthermore, abstractions and memory are bottlenecks that contribute to the language's slowness. Finally, the article introduces Static Python, a super-fast Python version with a modified type system, among other semantic changes.
Read That F*cking Code highlights that a developer must remain the architect of their code. In line with this, code reviews should be thorough, including checks for security, performance, and consistency.

The word of the day is Cloister. Cloister means to shut away from the world.
