TSBT48: Skyscrapers and Batsy
Gotham, Batwing, Batman, and Pizza
Dearly beloved,
I ask your forbearance for this period of quietude. The fortnightly publication has failed to appear in its appointed time, a fault which I must claim as mine own. In its stead, I am now offering this issue. May it serve as some small reparation, and may you find both solace and joy within its words.
Let this matter be put behind us, as it marks a return to our accustomed rhythm.
Being a cinephile means I tend to hold memories of different places depending on the film. When I arrived in Chicago, I couldn't help but notice that I had seen this before, like déjà vu without the spice. That’s when I clocked that this was Gotham. For all the Batsy fans, I may have met Batman and his Batwing a couple of times.
Chicago is just on a vibe of its own. A fun vibe. There is a lot of life, laughter, and kindness among people, not to mention the beautiful architectural buildings.
The sunset was stunning.
One shot that I am equally, if not more, proud of is this one. I love it because it’s what I like to call a perfect shot. Perfect because everything aligned and froze perfectly, the boat hit the water on time, the floating droplets in the air reflected light, as well as the sunset showing off.
I had such a lovely time. I highly recommend that you visit Gotham at least once.
Now that I lured you into the batcave, let’s talk about interviews. Interviews are a hit or miss shot, where sometimes you may get fake hits and fake misses. I have done a couple of interviews in my life, and I recommend retiring to an Island, enjoying the sun and bottomless cocktails. However, sometimes I wished that during the interviews I had, which did not necessarily pan out, I would have been asked this question: “What’s the one question you wish we had asked, the one that lets you shine, or a concept you know inside out and want to walk us through?” Partly because it takes a lot of time and effort to prepare, and just because I prepared for binary trees and got a linked list does not mean I cannot shine with my knowledge of binary trees. Additionally, here is a guide on how to prepare for the interviews.
Python supports multiple paradigms to achieve polymorphism, including OOP and functional styles. This talk compares three approaches isinstance(), OOP methods, and @singledispatch, highlighting their trade-offs and practical impact.
System Design interviews are slightly longer than traditional coding interviews and take place after two to three rounds of data structures interviews. They are also an hour long and cover a lot of ground, from scoping the problem to failure and monitoring. Here is a guide to help you scope out your time during those interviews.
