TSBT56: Morning Pages

To write or not to write, that is the question!

What are Morning Pages? How One New Habit Changed My Life
source

Writing, like all skills, requires constant practice to be good at it. Sometimes you get writer’s block, which is a pain to be in, but books like The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron have tips and tricks to help you navigate and keep on writing.

In The Artist’s Way, the concept of morning pages is that you actively jot down your thoughts as they come, every morning, on three pages without judgment. The gist is to keep you writing and eliminate the pressure to be perfect.

In a way, I believe both the Artist’s Way book and Atomic Habits are similar yet different in their own right from the audience's point of view, as both creative and non-creative. They both share one key thing: continuous movement forward. Atomic habits encourages you to start small and increase the level of difficulty, while the artist’s way enables you to create something every morning consistently. The baseline I got from both books is to keep moving, or, instead, what we now refer to as keep showing up, regardless, which is easier said than done.

Just show up. Then, keep showing up. #Better #Different

Show up when you are tired, show up when you do not feel like it, show up when nothing works, show up. Now, this is not to say do the same things that don’t get you results, because that is madness, but keep on trying for what you want, and that’s the hardest part. Hanging the cape is easier than wearing it.

I hope, my dearest reader, that you consistently show up for yourself and for the things you hold dear.

The word of the day is chastise. To chastise means to reprimand

severely.

Example in a sentence:
He chastised his colleagues for taking long breaks.

I am making my grand departure into the unknown.
