TSBT24: Craft with Passion

"The only way to do great work is to love what you do." - Steve Jobs

My dearest gentlest reader,

Happy almost new month! I love how we celebrate the passage of time, from birthdays, anniversaries, new years, and new months. However, I do wonder how we established the concept of days, nights, months, and years. It must have been strange to name days as well. Like, who named Thursday?

I recently finished reading Adam Johnson's book Boost your Django DX. It's a fantastic resource I highly recommend if you're looking to enhance your Django development skills. Keep in mind that it's more of a guide, so having some background in Python and Django will be beneficial. You can also check out my review of the book here.

Netflix, the fan favorite, when it comes to streaming entertainment, can teach you something like using microservice architecture, predictive caching, and geographical redundancy for reliability, among other things. Netflix may be fun for entertainment, like Mission Impossible, but if you choose to accept the mission, learn the architecture too.

Wondering about how to use Docker containers with UV in production? Hynek has a fix for you.

It's still job switch season, which means more resources on DSA. Recognizing patterns is a skill you learn to get good at DSA. This list of resources provides you with articles on different code patterns to help you understand how everything works.

Github has one of the best resources when it comes to free learning. These 25 repositories have a list of resources for developers, from system design case studies to interview prep. If movies were open source, best believe they would be on there, and you could get free popcorn too.

Concurrency, on the other hand, is more like juggling multiple tasks, switching between them to make the most of your time. Learn more about concurrence and parallelism.

How can you ensure rapid data insertion into a database? Through choosing a database that uses LSM (Log-Structured Merge) trees to retrieve and store data. This choice matters because it significantly affects performance, scalability, and reliability.

The word of the day is atrophy. Atrophy means the gradual decrease in size and strength of a muscle or organ. Example in a sentence: His injured leg, immobilised by a cast for months, shrank and weakened due to atrophy.

I am making my grand departure into the unknown.

Until the next issue, my treasured reader, go forth, and may the odds ever be in your favour!
