Gather 'round, you magnificent adults!
Another beautiful week doing adult things.
I was a guest on the Sustain Open Source podcast. Listen to it here, and let's continue the conversation in the comment section. One of the things I love about the Open Source Festival by Open Source Community Africa is that we get to have candid conversations on the sustainability of open source from our own perspective. The conversations are so diverse because, one, there are different countries present on our beautiful continent (Africa), and two, there are people from other continents too. These conversations can spark unique initiatives and foster the formation of communities. You can read the Sustainable Community Report from 2023. Sadly, the conference is not going to be happening this year, but I bet the one happening next year is going to be extra special.

ModelAdmin instances are created at import time and reused between requests in Django. This causes issues if the state is stored in instance variables. This article highlights how you can prevent state leakage between requests in Django.

The word of the day is reuful. Reuful is a feeling of pain or sorrow. Example in a sentence: The scientist peered ruefully at the failed experiment, but remained determined to find a solution.
I'm making my grand departure into the unknown. Until the next issue, my treasured reader, go forth, and may the odds ever be in your favour!
